Six standard bases, plus one level for a custom scope.
Start with the base rights, then add a compatible scope only when needed.
Waqf by Attribution
The broadest standard level: use and adaptation, including commercial use, with attribution preserved.
Binding Waqf by Attribution
Allows commercial use and adaptation while requiring derivatives to retain the same level.
Charitable Waqf by Attribution
Restricts use to non-commercial purposes while allowing attributed adaptations.
Binding Charitable Waqf by Attribution
Combines non-commercial use with the same-level requirement for derivatives.
Preserved Waqf by Attribution
Allows distribution and use, including commercially, while prohibiting adaptations.
Preserved Charitable Waqf by Attribution
Restricts use to non-commercial purposes and preserves the work without adaptations.
Scoped Waqf by Attribution
A wrapper around one of the six base levels, adding a compatible condition that narrows its scope.
Do not start with a label. Start with the benefit you need to preserve.
- Commercial useMay the work be used commercially?
- DerivativesMay others adapt and build on it?
- ContinuityMust derivatives retain the same level?
- Custom scopeIs use limited by audience, place, or purpose?
